Managing Your Dub-ins Templates
When you open your public-facing form and log into Genie, the form automatically loads using what we call the Magic Saved Template. This isn’t one of your saved templates—it's simply the version generated from the last script you pasted into your Dubsado HTML block.
Because it’s pulling directly from that pasted script, Genie shows you whatever existed in that script at the time. This is why the template title may appear blank. And importantly:
You cannot save or overwrite a saved template from the Magic Saved Template.
Genie treats it as a temporary starting point, not an editable, savable template.
How to Work From the Correct Template
To make sure your changes are tied to the correct, actual saved template (and not the temporary Magic version), follow this workflow every time you open a form in Genie:
- Open your form in Dubsado and log into Genie.
- Do not start editing yet.
- Go to your list of saved templates.
- Load the template you want to work with.
- Once your chosen template is loaded, you can begin making edits. All changes will now correctly save to that template.
If you begin editing the Magic Saved Template, Genie will treat your changes as a new template, which is why extra templates start appearing in your list.
Why This Workflow Helps
If you continue working from the Magic Saved Template, nothing will break—but your saved templates list will grow unnecessarily, and you may end up editing multiple, disconnected versions.
Loading your intended template first ensures:
- You always work from the correct template
- Your updates save where you expect
- You only maintain one version moving forward
