Working With Client Templates as a Dub+ Specialist in Genie 4.0

Diamond Plan FeatureRuby Plan Feature

As a Dub+ specialist, you design and manage Genie templates for clients while logged into your Dub-ins account and working inside your client’s Dubsado account (as an Admin).

This article explains the workflow, who can edit, and what happens in different plan scenarios.

How Editing Works in Genie 4.0

  1. Client invites you as an Admin in their Dubsado Settings.
  2. You log into your Dubsado account, switch to the client’s Workspace, and open the client’s Dubsado form (the public-facing form the client uses). When you open that public form, you’ll be prompted to create/add a new Genie Brand for that client.
  3. Create the Brand in your Dub-ins account, build a template or attach a template to the form, and click Publish. Each time you click Publish, the latest magic is applied automatically to the client’s live form.

Publishing is the update — there is no extra handoff or transfer step, but only if you have the latest initial script added to the Dubsado form.

Who Can Edit What?

You (the Specialist)

You always retain full editing access to templates within any Genie Brand you create or own.

Your Client

What a client can edit depends on plan and how the Brand is configured:

💎 Diamond Dub+ Specialists — Client Edit Access (permanent)

  • Clients receive limited-edit access (via Dubsado Side Editing) that remains in effect indefinitely, even if the Diamond specialist later cancels their subscription.

The one strict requirement is that the client’s Brand must remain linked to the specialist’s Genie account.

    • If the Brand is deleted/removed from the specialist’s account, the client’s forms will still display the template, but when the client attempts to publish edits themselves they will be shown a message indicating they need to purchase or subscribe to edit (purchasing the individual plugins one-time or subscribing to the Emerald Plan).
  • Be sure your client signs up for a free Dub-ins account so that they can make edits to their template. They will also be prompted to sign up or log in, when they try to access the template.

♦️ Ruby Dub+ Specialists — Client Edit Restrictions

  • Clients cannot edit templates by default.

Clients may only edit if they either:

    • Purchase the plugins on the template individually, or
    • Subscribe to an appropriate Dub-ins plan that enables editing (e.g., purchasing the individual plugins one-time or subscribing to the Emerald Plan).
  • If the client does not subscribe or buy the plugins, the forms remain fully functional for their end users, but the client cannot make edits.

White Labeling (A Diamond Member Optional Feature)

If you’d rather your client not have access to make edits to their Dub-ins template, you can choose not to transfer it. Instead, you can white label the template—keeping full control while presenting it as a form branded for your client.

What Happens If You Delete a Brand or Cancel Your Plan?

  • Deleting a Brand: Live public forms will continue to display the template, but editing/publishing from the client side will be blocked — clients will be prompted to subscribe or purchase the necessary plan/plugins to enable edits. Deleting a Brand also permanently removes templates and brand assets from your Genie account.
  • Cancelling (Diamond specialist): Clients who already have limited-edit access under Diamond keep that access forever, provided the client’s Brand remains linked to the specialist’s account. If the Brand is deleted, clients will be prompted to subscribe or purchase the necessary plugins/template to regain editing ability.
  • Cancelling (Ruby specialist): Cancelling does not change the Ruby restrictions — clients still cannot edit unless they subscribe or buy plugins.

Quick Summary

  • You design in your Dub-ins account, but work inside your client’s Dubsado account (as Admin).
  • Clicking Publish = Live update — no transfer step.
  • Diamond: clients get permanent limited-edit access as long as the Brand stays linked.
  • Ruby: clients cannot edit unless they purchase plugins or subscribe.
  • Delete Brand: forms still show, but client editing is blocked and will require subscription/purchase to re-enable.
